Comments: Michael Crawford. What is their to say about this man?

Im 15, and i watched The Phantom of the Opera in Broadway New York. Unfortunately, it wasn't you. I was so disappointed. However, Hugh Panaro was ok as Phantom. Since i got vack from my trip to NY, i have listened to the 1986 Phantom CD 24/7. This is a fact! Most 15 year old's like Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue... I'll stick to Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman! Really, you are a superstar. Music of the Night is the best song in the galaxy. Your acting in Some Mothers do 'ave 'em was extraordinary. It's far funnier than 'Little Britain' and definately 'Bo Selecta'. You are a West End superstar...

Comments: Dearest Mr. Crawford:

I am curious as to whether you actually read this emails? I am disappointed that by the time I became a phantom fan, you have long since ceased performing. I grieve each time I see phantom for not having had the pleasure of seeing you perform live. I have a 10 year old daughter (seen phantom 4x now) and recently took my 4yo son for his first performance. Mere words cannot describe the powerful musical. It perplexes me as to why with such a fan base, why won't you come back? aside perhaps for the fact you performed it for 10 years. Our whole familiy however, listens to your CD of phantom of the opera often and have watched one of your evening with micheal crawford videos we purchased. lovely. Short of being melodramatic, every performer, as well trained as they are, pales by comparison to you. Where are you now? I think we may mortgage our home just to get a chance to see you perform in anything :-). Much love to you from our family who adores you. Sincerely, Shastri

Comments: Dear Mr Crawford, I am sixteen years old and I have been interested in your work for a few years now and think what you have achieved in your life is absolutely terrific. Apart from your brilliant acting skills, singing skills etc. You have been a kind, loving patron for the Sick Children's Trust which also has links to Great Ormond Street which my family and a friend have personally beneficted from. My friend and I are hoping to see you in the West End show in May when you are better from your illness. I hope you make a good recovery and hopefully see you on stage. Yours sincerely, Eilish Gregory

Comments: Dear Michael Crawford,

I know you will probably never read this, but I will write it anyway.Unfortunatly, I have never seen you as the Phantom, I wish I had. I read the book, and one of the main things in it is that Erik's voice is so beautiful that every one is captivated by it and can't do anything else but listen to it, and I think that really works out for you because I've listened to the Phantom of the Opera sound track so many times and your voice is the most beautiful voice I have evr heard in my entire life. You are perfect for the Phantom, and I was very disappointed with the Phantom in the movie because it wasn't that way for him. I'd do just about anything to see that original play. Thank you for your beautiful voice and perfect Angel of Music.

I will remember to check next time. Comments: MR. CRAWFORD!!! U HAVE TO READ THIS!!! im was planning to write you a letter... but i guess this will have to do (since no one will let out your address). i am only fourteen years old, but my mom has been playing the Phantom of the Opera in her car since i was a baby, so i grew up hearing your voice. My mom bought Hello Dolly and i loved your character the best! I recognized the voice and i finally figured it out after a few years that the phantom and "cornelius" were the same person..you. i saw the San Francisco performance of Phantom of the Opera (5-6 times), the movie, along with the Tribute to Andrew Loyd Webber at the Luther Burbank center in Santa Rosa, California, but yet i was still disappointed... none of the phantoms could sound as great as you. Although i have the soundtrack to listen to and Hello dolly to watch to see and hear you at the same time, i still feel sorrow for never being able to see you sing and perform the Phantom... ever... Just as i came to this website, i found out that you were ill... i do wish you the best of health, because i guess some part of me is hoping that you would re-do the phantom movie with you in it instead of... um... sorry but i don't know the other guy's name... ANYWAY.... i know this will never happen... but i just really wanted you to know how much i enjoy your voice and that no one could EVER play the phantom as well as you...

Comments: I think you couldn't guess that there's a fan of you from Hong Kong. I first heard you sing, again, in the original London cast recording of The Phantom of the Opera. But I really become a fan after the 'miscasted' flim version of it and I found that you're just something more than Phantom.

It's hard for me to collect your recordings in Hong Kong. But I luckily find some of these, and also the original cast recording of The Woman in White, because it is the most recent production of (Sir) Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I wish you can get well soon and I will be able to see you on stage in May when I go to London for my graduation tour.

Comments: Hi Michael,

Came to London on 19th January to see Phantom of the Opera for the 5th time and as it was my birthday (as well as yours) I went along to the stage door at the Palace theatre to wish you many happy returns.

I was so sorry to learn that you were ill and just wanted to wish to a speedy recovery.

I also had a photograph of you and me that I wanted you to sign, it was taken outside the stage door of the Majestic Theatre in New York when you kindly signed my programme.

Hope you are back in Woman in White in April when hopefully I can get my photo signed.

Love you always Jackie xx

Comments: Hello Michael, I hope you do not find it rude of me to call you by your first name, though some may argue that I should show respect (which I highly do) and call you Mr. Crawford, either one works I figure. =)

Sadly to say, I too saw the Phantom movie of 2005... highly insulting to both millions of beloved fans, and of yourself. To have such a weak, insecure man portray your key character, is just beyond words in my eyes. As many people have said, no one can play the phantom like you can, and I'll agree with them once more. I don't know if you get tired of hearing the same thing about the movie over and over, because I know you are a little upset at the matter, like we all are, so I shall only make it a small part in my entry to you.

I have seen The Phantom of the Opera twice in my lifetime, and each time I went to go witness it, I love it because I know whoever plays the phantom's role has seen you and is trying to model your performance. So in each phantom show, there is always, and will always be a little part of you in each phantom.

I was so happy to see you working in London with The Lady in White, I saw a banner for it when I was visiting there and was just so glad to see you still showing and expressing your talents to many, many audiences to come. Though I was highly, and so greatly upset that I didn't get to see it, because it didn't open up till the next year. Hehe, well, I will honestly try to get down there again and witness a excellent performance from you and the rest of the cast.

Heh, I have already made this letter long enough so I think maybe I should close it before you get a little weary of all the type I've done. Please keep up your great work, you are loved and cherished by millions of people all over the world, your voice has gone far deeper than the natural ears, it has gone to souls and to hearts, and there it shall stay forever... at least that how it is with me. But I know many people say that to you as well. I know I am just another note in the millions you get, but I hope in some small way, you understand what I am trying to say about you....

Thank you so much... for all you have given us, we could never repay you enough!

-Lacey
